The trouble with traveling to paradise is the eventual departure back home. But what if home was paradise? Canada travel to Rocky Mountain areas like Canmore, Banff, and Jasper are not only ideal places to visit but high-quality locales to reside in. Just imagine stepping a backyard view of snow-capped mountains and gorgeous greenery. Mornings are spent fishing in the rivers, grabbing a coffee and enjoying the sun or cooking a breakfast while watching wild deer grazing nearby. It might sound too good to be true, but a long-term stay in Canmore, Alberta is easy if you try.

Canmore condos and other Canmore rentals are a good place to start. Even Canmore hotels and other accommodations are interested in offering long-term rental rates. Canmore inn and suites and Canmore lodging vary from chateaus to cozy, rustic settings. So pick a season to start at and give the small mountain town feel a go — there’s rarely a disappointment with such an easygoing and beautiful lifestyle.

Canmore is especially lenient with living laws due to its out-of-national-park location, unlike other towns located in the National Park boundaries. So while adventuring in the Canmore area snoop around and see which of the darling and comfortable homes and hotels stands out. In the long run, the call to kickback in Canmore might be beckoning for a long-term extension.

Seasonal living in Canmore is just as ideal, as winter sports enthusiasts and summer mountain lovers both local and international will never run out of activities. The Windtower Lodge is the perfect solution to a season session with a touch of class and dazzling style. Just off Main Street the hotel hosts a variety of visitors, and offer monthly stays for as low are $1100 a month.

The Windtower Lodge has a number of room styles to choose from. Suite 446, for example, is over 800 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Not only are the rooms beautiful, but picture the thought of retreating to an outdoor hot tub and work out facilities after a big day in the mountains.

Whether it’s a family in search of comfort or a faculty holiday looking for the ideal retreat, The Windtower Lodge is just one example of the many fine accommodating offers in Canmore. From snazzy modern lodges to rustic themed houses and hotels, Canmore has all their bases covered on accommodation.

Less costly and still just 15 minutes from Banff, Canmore is an ideal location. With a thriving art scene and a laidback image, settling down in a town like Canmore is a peaceful dream that can easily come true.

However, because of Canmore’s close proximity to the Rocky Mountain national parks, advance reservations are strongly recommended for the summer season, for all national and international holidays, and for the ski season.

The Windtower Lodge is nestled right in the heart of the Canadian Rockies in beautiful Canmore. The centrally located lodge is beautifully decorated and boasts mountain views that are second to none. Included are indoor heated parking, outdoor hot tub, fitness centre and the small things like a daily newspaper delivered to your door.

Towering mountains, pristine lakes, evergreen valleys, and glacial streams…Peter Lougheed Provincial Park is an area of striking contrasts where you can re-establish
your links with the wilderness. This is one of Alberta’s largest provincial
park and it has been developed to offer outdoor recreational opportunities
in a mountain setting that extends over 500 square kilometres.

The Park Visitor Centre provides information on facilities and recreation opportunities.
You will also find entertaining displays dealing with the natural and cultural history of the area. Six vehicle access campgrounds offer a variety of amenities form rustic walk-in tent sites to pull-throughtrailer sites.

The park’s trails offer a variety of hiking experiences, ranging from barrier-free trails to high alpine backcountry adventures. Certain hiking trails also provide access to Banff National Park and Elk Lakes Provincial Park in British Columbia. Bicyclists can enjoy more than 12 kilometres of paved trails. Mountain bikers will also find a number of challenging trails open for their use. The Elbow Lake Trail provides access to the trails of the Elbow and Sheep Valleys and is the only trail in the park open for equestrian users.

Fishermen can choose from hiking into a high alpine lake or fishing from the shores of the Kananaskis Lakes. In winter, cross-county ski over 85 kilometres of groomed trails in the Kananaskis Lakes area or try the 30 kilometres of skier set track of the Smith-Dorrien Trail
system.

heart of the scenic Smith-Dorrien Valley – welcome to one of the wildest areas of Kananaskis Country.

hiking and mountain biking in the summer, this world-class Nordic ski facility is open year-round. Explore the many picnic areas and viewpoints as you drive the Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail. After dark, stop and listen… wolves have returned to Kananaskis Country! Fishing,
boating, camping – Spray Lakes offers something for everyone. For hiking, the Spray has both formal hiking trails as well as numerous routes that are not signed or maintained.

Watridge Lake Trail also connects with trails that lead to Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park in British Columbia. If you are hiking into Banff National Park, be aware of National Park Regulations.

Highwood/Cataract ranges from stark high alpine beauty, to lush spruce and lodgepole
pine forests, to the rich grazing lands of the Rockies’ front ranges.

The area has over 200 auto accessible campsites (unserviced), with equestrian facilities
at Etherington Creek. There are hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking opportunities on Mist Creek Trail and the Cataract Creek Forest Land Use Zone Tails which also offer groomed snowmobile trails in the winter. For the more adventurous, there are also many established
routes which are not signed or maintained.

Fishing is popular in the river, creeks, and high alpine lakes. As part of a wildlife management strategy, hunting is also permitted in the area under a draw system. The Highwood River is renowned for its white-water canoeing and kayaking during the spring runoff, but is recommended for experienced boaters only.

When you arrive,
listen for it: the river, it defines this valley. A torrent that blasts through vertical layers of rock to meander more leisurely downstream. The Sheep is a contrast of commanding peaks and pastoral meadows, of deep gorges, and sweeping valleys.

The valley comes by its name honestly. The native people that visited here also called
it the Sheep and a drive through the wildlife sanctuary here will show you why. It’s a rare day when you won’t see bighorn sheep grazing in the meadows, on the surrounding slopes, or scrambling nimble-footed on the rocky outcrops.

For most the tranquillity of this valley brings them to the Sheep – a chance to get into the
saddle, be it on horse back or mountain bike, to ride the hundreds of kilometres of trails that join with the Elbow and Highwood Valleys.

The Elbow Valley is a verdant stairway to the mountains. The steps proceed from grasslands,
to aspen parkland, to subalpine forest, and finally to the majesty of the high alpine. The wildlife here reflect the terrain’s diversity from the prairie’s Richardson’s ground squirrels, to grizzly bears and bighorn sheep of the mountains.

A short thirty minute drive from Calgary, the picnic areas and campgrounds of the Elbow Valley make a perfect day-outing or weekend oasis, and the trails are a magnet few visitors can resist. Hundreds of kilometres of trails await to challenge the hiker, mountain biker, equestrian, and cross country skier alike. From a gentle meander through the forest to a gruelling ridge top scramble, the Elbow Valley trails connect with the Sheep, Sibbald, and Kananaskis Valleys, offering something for everyone.

The McLean Creek Off Highway Vehicle Zone offers similar challenges for the off-road
enthusiast year-round. For the angler, your catch awaits you in the stocked ponds at McLean Creek, Allen Bill , and Forgetmenot, or in the cool clear depths of the Elbow River and its tributaries. Whether it’s shooting white water by kayak or enjoying the smell of orchids
at Paddy’s Flat, the Elbow Valley offers something for everyone.
